English Writing for Taiwan Tourism Promotion
Instructor: 楊孝慈, James Hsiao-tzu Yang, 05-534-2601 ex. 3127, yanght@yuntech.edu.tw Course Meetings: Wednesdays, 3:10-6pm (3 credits), Room DH106 Office Hours: Thursdays, 1-3pm, or by appointment, Room DS125 Course Description This course aims to prepare students to engage in professions promoting the tourism of Taiwan. To this end, we will study materials concerning Taiwan’s traditional festivals, cultural customs, scenic attractions, and local snacks. We will also discuss various events and activities organized for Taiwan tourism development. In addition, our discussion will also address issues on sustainable tourism development and management. With the knowledge of Taiwan tourism resources gained from the above class learning activities, students will learn to report and write in English to introduce Taiwan’s landscape, culture, and food to foreigners. Eventually, the course not only equips students with appropriate presentation and writing skills to help make Taiwan an English-friendly tourism environment, but it also expects students to cherish Taiwan’s tourism resources, develop new tourism assets, and promote Taiwan’s international tourism interaction and collaboration with foreign friends.
